The economist Dick Startz (whose blog should be on all your Feedly feeds) has crunched the most recent numbers from the College Board to produce this graph. Note that it is based on what high school seniors report they are thinking of majoring in.

While there has been some good news on this front, it looks like the profession has a way to go to really be attractive to the best and the brightest.
