Today, the Department of Education has taken a bold step in ensuring every future teacher graduates classroom-ready. Teachers and students deserve the fastest possible action to improve teacher prep in this country and the DOE has committed to doing just that.
Transparency and accountability are necessary to ensure teacher preparation in America is the best in the world and we need our schools of education to embrace these principles. Instead of following in with those who denounce the proposed regulations as a "quick fix" for schools of education -- many of which have resisted any kind of fix for generations -- the field should support efforts to improve what is currently a mediocre industry at best.
