The Iowa Board of Educational Examiners has floated the novel but silly idea of requiring that student teachers in Iowa be licensed. Apparently there has been a sizeable increase in the number of incidents of misconduct by student teachers, with violations ranging from drinking with students to inappropriate sexual relationships. Skeptics wonder if a licensing will actually prevent any of this from happening. But hey, if it works maybe we can start licensing our teenagers to keep them from drinking.
