Teach For America is quickly becoming the darling of both ambitious young college grads and ambitious politicians. Applications to the two-year program increased by nearly 10% this year--well in line with TFA's five-year growth plan that was recently beefed up by House approval of $12 million in funds for 2007. The amendment is part of the reauthorization of the Higher Education Act and will enable TFA to receive up to 25% of its annual budget from federal funding--a healthy boost for the powerhouse teacher corps.
