The Broad Foundation, headed by Eli Broad who is chairman of SunAmerica, Inc., recently awarded New York City $4 million for its principal training program, entitled the Leadership Academy. Mayor Michael Bloomberg and Chancellor Joel Klein still have a ways to go to raise the $75 million in private money that they're seeking over three years: they currently stand at $38.5 million with $11.5 million more in pledges, but they seem to be adept at fundraising.
