The University of Central Arkansas noted that Arkansas uses the CAEP standard of 3.0 for the cohort, but the Arkansas Department of Education has eliminated individual GPA requirements for students entering education programs. Although the state has made this change, the University of Central Arkansas will continue to use a 2.7 grade point average as a requirement for admission to its teacher education programs.

Arkansas State University noted that their institution's policy is that an individual GPA of 2.70 or above is deemed as likely meeting the CAEP requirement of 3.0 GPA cohort average. At Arkansas State, the university undergraduate cohort average GPA is 3.34 (2015-16). Only candidates meeting a 2.70 GPA are admitted into the teacher education program (see their 2016-17 Teacher Education Handbook, page 8). The institution also added that the program has met the CAEP GPA requirement for past three academic years. In 2015-16, the program average was 3.30; in 2014-15, 3.34; and in 2013-14, 3.27.

Henderson State University stated that instead of passing scores on the basic skills assessment (currently Praxis Core), teacher education candidates may substitute a minimum composite ACT score of 24, with at least a 22 in reading, math, or English/Writing. The institution added that SAT equivalent scores are also acceptable to substitute. The state requires a combined 1650 Math/Critical Reading/Writing with a minimum score of 510 in each area in order to use this option.
