Methodology: Preparation efficiency
We counted the semester hours of required professional coursework in each preparation program. Because we have found in our various state studies that many programs do not provide an accurate accounting of student teaching (making it a 3-6 semester-hour course, rather than the 12-hour course it really is), we did not include semester hours for student teaching or any associated seminar.
