Turns out that the majority of the first-year teachers in the state of Texas now arrive in the classroom through non-traditional routes-primarily alternative certification and post-baccalaureate programs. According to the study, "The growth of alternative certification has been particularly strong. This route appears to be on track to become the primary source of new teachers in Texas within the next ten years."
